What is 5010 and how does it impact me?

 

5010 is the recent change in electronic claims format, compliance date of January 1, 2012.  This mandated change affects every Billing Provider that submits electronic claims to any Medicare, Medicaid, or Commercial Payor/Carrier.  Any customer who is not submitting 5010 claims by the compliance date should expect a delay in revenue until compliant.  It has been ZOLL’s objective to participate in Vendor Testing with most Major Medicare Intermediaries and Partnered Clearinghouses to ensure the highest success rate for our customers.

 

What should I do to make sure I am ready?

 

It is important to act immediately if you have not started your 5010 Compliance process.  Some carriers, like Palmetto GBA, require a 5010 Production Status approval process that can take up to 2-4 weeks.
