The RescueNet Road Safety System is based on the idea that the driver is the most important factor in vehicle safety. By making drivers part of the solution, the problem is greatly reduced.
Road Safety's system monitors a number of driving parameters in real time. If the vehicle is driven outside acceptable ranges for these parameters, an immediate audio warning signals the driver to take corrective action. If the "threshold" warning is ignored, the system produces a steady tone, alerting the driver that the system has started recording the incident into the driver grading system, further encouraging the driver to correct the unsafe action.
The Road Safety real-time feedback system detects and helps correct such unsafe driving behaviors as:
• Hard acceleration
• Hard braking
• Aggressive cornering
• Speeding
The Road Safety "black box" is easy to install and can be configured with a wireless RF data transceiver for automatic downloading. No driver or administrator intervention is required. All vehicle and driver performance information are automatically downloaded to the system administrator's desktop computer. The administrator can easily view such reports as:
• Individual driver performance
• Driver performance comparison to others
• Driver data for emergency driving only
• Driver data for non-emergency driving only
• Driver data for total driving
The system grades drivers according to mathematical "counts," or the total number of seconds that the vehicle is operated in an unsafe condition. A performance grade is then calculated based on the average miles between counts, using 10 performance levels. A Level 10 driver has a greater number of safely driven miles between counts
than a Level 6 driver (the level many fleets consider as their standard for minimum safe vehicle operation). Drivers below Level 6 typically receive additional training or performance review by supervisors.
